Pilgrims to Blue Zone Ishigaki Island begin their journey to pray to the stars by preparing their bodies and minds with saunas and cold water/sea bathing along Nagura Bay. This experience of starry night bathing changes the way of thinking from “I” to “we” and our relationships with others from “others” to “friends. By working together, we will reach goals that we could not achieve individually, restore our bodies and minds, and nurture a positive attitude. Pilgrims will enjoy local food and a deep sleep, and will notice the changes in themselves the next morning.

Pilgrims of Blue Zone Ishigaki Island begin their journey with an ablution to purify and prepare their bodies and minds with sauna, cold water, and sea bathing along Nagura Bay.The starry night bathing can be called a prayer to the stars, so to speak.By exposing your entire body to the steam, cold water, seawater, and the beautiful breeze of Nagura Bay, you unknowingly offer up a prayer to the stars.By placing yourself among the sacred stars, you will wash away the fatigue of the world and bring about a rebirth of yourself and your relationships with your loved ones.

Nagura Bay is a Ramsar site and the largest bay in Ishigaki Island. It has mangrove forests and rich coral reefs, and means “a place where young fish gather” in the local dialect. At dusk, the red sunset is reflected on the surface of the water, and at night, the stars shine with a sacred radiance amidst the sound of waves and sea breeze.

Dark Sky Wellness of Ishigaki Island
Ishigaki Island is located near Taiwan and is the southernmost island region of Japan. The climate is mild throughout the year and is full of subtropical nature, which is rare in Japan. The people's lifestyle is also reminiscent of the Blue Zone.Ishigaki Island is especially famous for its beautiful starry sky.
